Robert Campbell

Robert holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from Northern Illinois University. During his time at NIU he studied conducting with Dr. Eric Johnson and private voice with Myron Myers.

Robert is the vocal instructor for VIVA! Performing Arts School in Dixon, Illinois and performs extensively throughout northern Illinois including the Chicagoland area. He has experience in solo performance, choral singing, conducting, piano, musical theater and teaching. Past experience includes seven years lead tenor with The Canterbury Singers as well as appearances at the American Choral Directors Association’s National Convention in Milwaukee and the National Collegiate Choral Organization in San Antonio. In 2009, Mr. Campbell was appointed director of the vocal ensemble, The Canterbury Singers, a 24-voice group of professional singers specializing in English music. He is also the director of the Chancel Choir at the First Congregational Church in Dekalb. Robert has worked and performed with Morten Lauridsen, Jaakko Mantijarvi, John Nelson, Paul Freeman and Jerry Blackstone. 

Mr. Campbell currently sings for the group Cor Cantiamo, directed by Dr. Eric Johnson. He has been with this group since its conception in 2009 and currently serves on the Board of Directors. In the summer of 2013 Robert recorded his first CD with Cor Cantiamo performing the works of Finnish composer Jaakko Mantyjarvi. This CD will be released in the winter of 2013. Future performances with this group include the Michigan Festival of Sacred Music in Kalamazoo and headline choir for the 2014 ACDA Central Division Conference in Cincinnati, Ohio.  (

Robert grew up in Sterling, Illinois where he was inspired to be a music educator by his high school choir director, Mark Beaty. Robert would like to thank his parents for always being his #1 fan.
