Jeffrey Hunt is the director of St. Charles Singers, the chamber choir he founded in 1984 in St. Charles, Illinois. The choir regularly performs in many venues throughout Chicago and the surrounding area and has performed nationally and internationally. St. Charles Singers has been guest conducted by John Rutter, Timothy Brown, Robert Hansen, Craig Hella Johnson, Rossen Milavov, Philip Moore, Jeannette Sorrell and James Conlon.
Under Hunt’s leadership the choir has produced four commercial recordings, most recently the highly acclaimed Bushes and Briars released on MSR. The choir is currently more than half way through its “Mozart Journey,” a historic undertaking of 17 concerts through which the complete known volume of Mozart’s sacred choral compositions will be performed and recorded. The choir regularly commissions new choral music for the ensemble. Composers have included: Charles Forsberg, George Shearing, Guyla Feketa, Robert Boyd, Nathanial Adams and Scott Stevenson.
Hunt is Director of Music at Baker Memorial United Methodist church in St. Charles where he leads an active music program and is an adjunct faculty member at Elgin Community College in Elgin, Illinois. He is active in Chorus America and ACDA where he serves on the Illinois board as chair of Music and Worship. Hunt enjoys the opportunity of working with both amateur and professional level musicians. He maintains a voice studio for students and adults. Jeffrey Hunt received a B.M. from Taylor University and an M.M. in Choral Conducting from Northwestern University.Back
