Michael D. Costello

Michael has been the Cantor (Director of Music) at Grace Lutheran Church and School in River Forest, Illinois, since 2008. An ordained pastor in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, Michael has served as a church musician in several parishes and as a pastor at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church in Columbia, South Carolina before moving to Grace in River Forest. Costello has also been the Artistic Director of Chicago Choral Artists since 2014 and sings as a supplementary chorister with the Grant Park Music Festival. A native of Pennsylvania, Costello graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Sacred Music with a primary focus in organ performance from Lenoir-Rhyne University in Hickory, North Carolina, and a Master of Divinity from Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary in Columbia, South Carolina. Costello has won several awards in organ performance and has numerous published choral and organ works with several publishers.
