Marcus Jansen, tenor, was raised in a farm family along the Mississippi River in Quincy, Illinois and found a love for music in his youth at Unity High School and Ellington Memorial Presbyterian Church. He developed as a vocalist through various choirs at Iowa State University, having the opportunity to perform at Carnegie Hall, the ACDA conference, and with collaborations across the Midwest. Marcus earned both a bachelor and master’s degree in Horticulture from Iowa State University, conducting research in ornamental plant stress physiology.

He has recently moved to Geneva, Illinois to kick start his career as a Product Development Manager for the PanAmerican Seed division of Ball Horticultural Company, helping to bring exciting new flowering, foliage, and bedding plants to gardens all over the world. While Marcus has found a profession with plants, he continues to foster his passion for choral singing and is truly honored to be joining the St. Charles Singers.
