Cynthia, who is a free-lance musician, and has sung with St. Charles Singers since 2001, is secretary to the SCS Board of Directors. Her early interest in music led her to Goshen College where she earned a B.A. in piano pedagogy. Originally from Amish and Mennonite country in rural Ohio, one of Cynthia’s fondest memories is singing four part harmony hymns in church, a cappella, where her mother was song leader. Today, she continues her love of church music as part-time choir director at the Unitarian Universalist Society of Geneva, in addition to singing at Church of the Ascension in Chicago. She sings in a variety of chamber groups as well as frequently singing in recital. One of her greatest joys has been making music with her three musical daughters, now grown.
