Brayden Sefrenek, a native of Montgomery, joined St. Charles Singers in 2025, but he isn’t new to the choir.
Brayden grew up participating in SCS ‘Sing!’ workshops and multiple theatrical and choral settings throughout high school and college. He will receive a Bachelor of Music Education from Illinois State University in May 2025, specializing in vocal/general music. At ISU, Brayden was involved in multiple ensembles including University Glee, Concert Choir, Madrigals, and Opera a la Carte, a semester- long opera workshop, where he performed select duets, quartets, and quintets including songs from Die Zauberflöte, Carmen, and more. He performed in multiple master work performances at ISU including Missa in Tempore Belli by Joseph Haydn, John Rutter’s Requiem, Faure’s Requiem, Mozart’s Requiem, and Isabella Leonarda’s Magnificat where he sang bass in the Quartet Solo.
Brayden hopes to teach as a choral music director at the junior high or high school level in the future.
Outside of music, he is an avid astronomer and astrophotographer and is involved in multiple leadership and membership roles in numerous astronomy organizations around at ISU and around Illinois.
