Auditions 2023


Dear Singer,

Thank you for signing up to audition for the St. Charles Singers. 

St. Charles Singers will hold auditions for current and prospective singers on Thursday, March 9, 7-9 pm; Saturday, March 11, Noon -5 pm; Tuesday, March 14, 7-9 pm; and Saturday, March 18, 10 am- 3 pm for the 2023/2024 season.

The scheduling portal is open. Whether you are a current singer or interested in being a part of the ensemble, here is the information you need to audition.  If you have any questions, please email the choir at We will respond as soon as possible.  

SCS is a paid ensemble of experienced singers. All current ensemble singers are encouraged to audition. Prospective singers who have experience singing at the college level, either as a soloist or in ensembles, or who have significant solo or choral singing experience, are encouraged to audition. Each audition will last approximately 10 minutes. An accompanist will be provided. 

Audition requirements: 

CURRENT SINGERS: (You have two options for your audition.) 

Option 1) Submit a video of you singing one selection. It can be in a foreign language; art songs, arias or a selection from musical theatre are the preferred repertoire. Also include an audio/video of you vocalizing, demonstrating range and agility.  Videos must be no older than three months old from date of submission. Email directly to Jeff Hunt prior to the audition dates.

Option 2)  Sign up for a live audition where you will be asked to sing one selection of your choice, and to vocalize.

In either option, please update me on your current singing adventures.  Are you studying, singing with other ensembles, etc… 


Step 1: Send an email with your choral music education, singing experiences, and an optional sound file to This information will be reviewed. If invited, proceed to the next steps:

Step 2: Select a time and date to audition.

Step 3: Prepare two selections that are contrasting in nature.  One or both can be in a foreign language. Art songs, arias, or a selection from musical theatre are the preferred repertoire.

Step 4: Bring a current resume of your choral experience.  

Step 5: At the audition you will sing all or part of your selections, will be asked to vocalize and will sight read.
