Nate Coon, Baritone, has been happily singing with SCS since the 2010-2011 season. By day, Nate teaches at Cumberland Elementary in Des Plaines School District 62.  Nate teaches K-5 general music, 1-5 grade drama, and directs an extracurricular chorus. Prior to his time at Cumberland, Nate taught in Barrington School district 220 in the same role part-time for three years.

Aside from SCS, Nate works with the Palatine Children’s Chorus, where he directs the program’s younger ensembles, and assists in rehearsals and directs theory and sight-singing with the Middle School and High School ensembles. Nate has also been an adjudicator for area festivals and contests, and teaches private voice and piano in the Northwest Suburban Area.

Nate holds two Bachelor’s Degrees from Illinois State University in Music Education and Vocal Performance. He is currently working on his Master’s Degree in Music Education with an emphasis in Kodály Philosophy from The Kodály Institute at Capital University, Columbus Ohio.

Nate has been happily married to his wife Stephanie since August 2011. They don’t have kids yet, but do have two dogs that their parents affectionately call €œgrandpuppies€ when the couple drops them off on the way to one of their travel adventures (probably to Disney World).
