Bethany is a native of Chicago, Illinois. She began pursuing music with the Carol Stream Singers at age 8. She remained active in choirs, taking private voice lessons, and participating in vocal competitions through her high school career. She earned her Bachelor of Music degree from Northern Illinois University in 2007 where she studied voice with Diane Ragains and Nancy Henninger.
Mrs. Nelson has been seen in many of Northern Illinois University's opera productions. Her roles include Mother Goose in Stravinsky's The Rake's Progress, Mama in Ravel's L'enfant et les Sortileges, Juno in Offenbach's Orphe aux Enfers, and Aunt Cecilia March in Mark Adamo's Little Women.
Bethany is currently singing her seventh season with St. Charles Singers and is preparing for a winter recital in collaboration with Cambridge Lakes’ Artist in Residence, Dr. Yukiko Fujimura, Piano.
Mrs. Nelson wears many hats in the working world. She can be seen teaching private voice lessons at Dundee-Crown High School in Carpentersville and Cambridge Studio in Pingree Grove, Serving as the Community Relations & Events Director for Cambridge Lakes Charter School in Pingree Grove, and singing for St. Charles Singers, of course.
Bethany is thoroughly enjoying life as a newlywed and loves the rock and roll influence that her husband Jason has brought to her classical life. The free guitar lessons are pretty great, too.
Mrs. Nelson is very grateful to those that support her and her art.
